Liverpool was the team that won throughout 2024/25, as seen in progress made under Arne Slot since taking the reins last summer.

The Dutch have led the Reds to their second Premier League title, but have already waste most of their time targeting reinforcements ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

After such a dominant year when the club won the title with 10 points, you won’t expect much change, but the slots seem desperately hoping to inject new additions into more quality into the sides.

Countless players have been advertised in the summer switch to Anfield, but at that point there have been no transactions that have yet to be concluded in windows that are not open yet.

However, the work has been underway over the past few days, with rapid progress being made not only in Florian Wiltz but also in numerous deals in the full-back area.

The latest on Liverpool’s new fullback hunt

As Trent Alexander Arnold departs Liverpool this summer, Bayer Leverkusen’s right-back Jeremy Fripon has agreed to a £29.5 million deal for his services, and is the main target to fill the gap.

The Dutch have traveled to Merseyside over the past few days to complete the switch process to England.

According to Fabrizio Romano, he is not the only player approaching the move to Anfield.

He claims he is “working” into the hierarchy with a contract to land Hungary International, which has registered two Premier League goals and five assists in the campaign.

Cherry has reportedly requested £45 million for his signature during the offseason. The defender has an open switch to join the men in the slot – following in the footsteps of one player currently in the book.

Why Kerkez can repeat the success of Liverpool’s Mac Allister

The Alexis Mac Allister has played a key role in the success Liverpool endured over the last few months, solidifying his position in the centre of the side alongside Rien Graven Birch.

Argentina, which signed a £35 million contract from Brighton in the summer of 2023, has registered for 95 appearances in the past two years since moving to Merseyside.

Of those, 49 came on 2024/25 and featured in all but three Premier League matches, combining 10 goals and assists to have a major impact on their ability to claim titles.

The 26-year-old now looks like a bargain given his success at Anfield, and could replicate Kerquez’s move and such a deal over the coming months.

With his contract with the Bournemouth defender, he will be able to see another young star moving from his mid-table English outfit to the club, and hopes to become a key player in future success under the Dutch.

The 21-year-old has the tools to emerge as a major full-back despite his tender age and thrive on both ends.

Labeled “sensational” by journalist Charles Watts, Kerkez created 1.1 chances per 90 and successfully completed 1.1 crosses per 90.

He also completed 56% of the dribbling he attempted. There are 1.9 touches on the opposition box – further highlighting the talent he has at his feet with the ball.

However, Kerquez also starred defensively, winning 50% of the tackles he entered and came out on top of 4.1 duel per 90.

The £45 million price could prove to be a good price for young talent who only improves further if they receive more time on top flights in England over the next few seasons.

If he reaches a location near the level produced by Mac Allister in Merseyside, it is a sensational deal, offering a new dimension to his already star-studded first team team.
