According to a new report, Leeds United will now face Burnley in a transfer match this summer to sign a Premier League-level defender with a free transfer.

Leeds is paying attention to more transfers after Nmecha’s deal

The whites confirmed the first signature of the summer transfer window on Sunday afternoon. This is because Lucas Numeka agreed to join Leeds when his contract at Wolfsberg expires at the end of the month.

The offensive midfielder is a player likely to become a key player on Fark’s team this season, but the club is already working on more additions, so he hasn’t been resting on his arrival alone.

As African Foot reported, Leeds contacted Manchester City by signing with Jumaba on a loan agreement. The 19-year-old joined the Blues in January, but spent the rest of the campaign on loan with the RC lens. He now appears ready for another temporary move, with Leeds and Southampton fighting for his signature.

By landing the deal, Leeds United was able to seal a better forwarding than snapping Jaka Bijol.

Meanwhile, defender Jaka Bijol has agreed to terms on the move to Elland Road this summer, and the transaction appears to be complete. According to reports from Football Insider, he is not the only defender on the club’s radar. Alex Moreno also said he’s interested in the move to Leeds this summer. The white guy is in the new left-back market, so the 32-year-old could potentially be used for £5 million.

Leeds face Burnley in Keene Battle

According to Liverpool Echo, Leeds is one of the teams interested in signing Michael Keene from Everton, so the list of potential new defenders to sign doesn’t stop there.

Keene, who has been at Goodison Park since July 2017, has finished his contract at the end of this month and believes he is likely to leave while discussing his new contract. It warned Leeds, who, along with Burnley and Sheffield United, are keen to secure and secure defenders in free transfers.

The 32-year-old, who has been called “immeasurable” by Harry Redknap in the past, has fallen into the pecking order at Everton in recent seasons. Keene will only play 12, 9 and 14 times in the last three campaigns, starting with 32 games in the Premier League during the 2021/22 season.

Keene could be a viable option for White to give more depth behind Joe Rodon and Pascal Stroeke, and there aren’t many free signatures in the market that offer such a rich top flight experience.
