The St. Louis Blues continue to stay active in their roster moves. Puckpedia reports that the team has re-signed goalie prospect Vadim Zherenko to a one-year, two-way contract for the 2025-26 season.

Zherenko, 24, was picked 208th overall by the Blues in the 2019 NHL Draft. After honing his skills overseas, he has spent the past three seasons with the Blues’ AHL affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds. This new deal ensures he remains a key part of the Thunderbirds’ goaltending squad.

This past season, Zherenko posted a 3.44 goals-against average over 32 games, holding a 12-17-5 record and a .897 save percentage. The season before, he had a .904 save percentage and a 3.49 goals-against average in 29 games.

This contract keeps Zherenko as a valuable depth option within the Blues organization, and it will be intriguing to see if he can make a significant leap forward in the upcoming season.

In addition to this signing, the Blues also made a big splash by signing Pius Starr to a two-year deal with an average annual value of $4.13 million, signaling their intent to build a strong and competitive team.

Fan Take: Re-signing Zherenko shows the Blues’ commitment to developing their goaltending depth, which is crucial for sustained success. For hockey fans, this signals that the organization is focused on nurturing talent that could impact the team’s future performance in meaningful ways.
