  • Watkins’ Newcastle United moves are expensive
  • Magpies should look for alternatives in the market

Newcastle United are interested in signing Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins this summer, but the deal to complete the signature will be a massive financial commitment.

Magpies are on the market and looking for options to enhance their attacks.

After Calm Wilson departs from St James Park this summer, EddieHou is looking for a new striker who can ease the burden on Alexander Isaac next season.

With Magpies participating in the Champions League next season, they need more depth in their teams, and Watkins’s name has emerged as one of their options.

Financial expert Stephen Bourson, while talking to football insiders, claims that Magpies have signed the Aston Villa striker and must pay £50 million to provide an additional £50 million as part of the contract.

Watkins’ Newcastle United moves are expensive

He said: “We see that before Newcastle sells, it has a kind of £125-£150 million budget.

“Watkins is a player you can consider buying, but we talked about how much he costs overall and how old he is.

“It’s basically a £100 million transaction, which is a £50 million fee and a £50 million contract.

“That’s the entry price. I want to buy a proven striker, but I have a commitment of £100 million.”

It’s a massive financial commitment, but the magpie is in a stable position to spend its money.

They also rely on further sales to fund transfer funds. Hau’s team has already issued a statement signed at Anthony Elanga and is ready to continue its revival this summer.

There is no doubt about the quality Watkins brings to Newcastle’s side, but Isak will remain the team’s first choice attacker. In that case, spending a lot of money on backup options like Watkins makes little sense for Howe’s team.

They need to save money this summer to look at more affordable options and spend on other important areas of the team.

Newcastle shows the interest of the £862 million defender. However, there is a problem after the internal lecture.
