Milwaukee Brewers Enter Elite Ranks: How Hot Is Their Winning Streak?

In 2025, the Milwaukee Brewers were the standout team in Major League Baseball, demonstrating dominance particularly on key dates. On May 24, despite a 2-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates which left them with a 26-28 record, the Brewers bounced back and by August 11, they defeated the Pirates 7-1 to hold the league’s best record at 74-44. This success catapulted them to a 6.5-game lead over the Cubs in the NL Central, bolstered by a remarkable 49-16 stretch where they won nearly 75% of their games since May 25.

Starting their winning streak on that day, the Brewers followed with an 11-game streak through to the All-Star break, accumulating a 25-4 record in their last 29 games dating back to the beginning of that run. Their 65-game stretch, with a record of 49-16, ranks them tenth among MLB teams since 2000, in elite company with teams like the 2017 and 2013 who also had historic winning runs in the past two decades.

The ‘ 2017 team, despite a strong 104-58 season, fell to the Astros in the World Series. Similarly, the Guardians of 2017, Mariners of 2001, Yankees of 2022, and Cardinals of 2004 all had impressive runs but faced postseason disappointments or challenges. A notable comparison is with the 2005 Athletics who recovered from a poor start to a powerful mid-season surge. Milwaukee’s balanced performance is highlighted by their strong batting averages against both right and left-handed pitchers, exceptional hitting in the middle innings, and clutch playing throughout their recent games. Their pitching staff also excelled with a 3.26 ERA over this period, well below the league average.

The Brewers’ success is not just a streak of luck but a combination of outstanding offense, solid pitching, and consistent clutch performance. Their run differential moved from a negative to the league’s highest, showing their overall dominance in the game. Whether this momentum will lead them to a World Series victory or end in a common fate of past teams remains to be seen, but their performance is undoubtedly a threat to the rest of the league.

Fan Take: The Brewers’ incredible run in 2025 shows baseball fans a thrilling display of consistent excellence that challenges historic benchmarks. If they can maintain this level of play, it could herald a new era of dominance and set fresh standards for success in the sport.
