NEW YORK – Tennis player Solana Silsteer said the trophy she received after winning a recent women’s tournament was stolen from a hotel room in New York while she was playing at the US Open.

Cirstea appealed for the return of the trophy late Saturday night, two days after being eliminated from single-player on Flushing Meadows.

“Anyone who stole the Cleveland trophy from the 314th room at Sonesta of 50, please give it back!” Cirstea wrote on her Instagram story. “There is no material value, just sentimental value. It will be (a great) value!”

Cirstea, 35, from Romania, won her third career single title at the Cleveland Warm-Up Tournament at the US Open earlier this month. She lost to No. 11 seed Karolina Mciba in the second round of the Flushing Meadows.

The hotel said there was no comment.
