  • Why Spurs’ £52 million goal is best for Simons

After a disastrous finish of 17th place in the Premier League last season, it was important that the Tottenham Hotspur tier invested money in the first team before 2025/26.

Thomas Frank is the man who fills the void left by Ange Post Coglou’s firing, and Dane is handed over money to try to change the fate of Lily White’s top division.

He has so far landed duo Mohamed Kudus and Zabi Simons for a total of £107 million, and has since stepped up his options freely within the attacking division.

Joao Palhinha also arrived on the loan, but Mathys Tel moved the loan permanently.

However, with only a few days left in the transfer period, the new boss hopes to be added to help him in search of success during his tenure with the club.

Latest new and additional Spurs hunting before deadline

Manchester United star Cobby Mineau has been a surprise target for the Spurs over the last few days, with the player himself hoping to make a temporary move from Old Trafford.

Lilywhite’s hierarchy has been discussing with Reuben Amorim’s side about potential moves before Monday’s deadline, but it’s unclear whether the move will be possible given the Red Devils’ reluctant to offload young people.

However, according to CatedOffside, he is not the only British person currently in their vision.

They claim that Frank’s side is preparing a bid of between £35 million and £45 million for the 25-year-old, and Spanish attire is preparing to let him leave if an acceptable offer is presented. Man United also participates in the race, but the Spurs are said to be front runners.

Diego Simeone’s side also said it would like £45 million this summer, potentially adding the Spurs’ third big money between the current windows.

Why Spurs’ £52 million goal is best for Simons

Simons’ recent move to Spurs infused Fanbase with additional excitement, and, of course, delves into the numbers from last season.

The Dutch registered 10 goals and seven assists for Bundesliga’s RB Leipzig, finishing the year as one of the most threatening offensive options in the division.

Chelsea seemed destined to land a former PSG young man at one stage, but Frank’s men swooped for 11 hours, and the movement finally ended the hunt for the new attacking midfielder.

If he could replicate such numbers on 2025/26 for Lily White, he would be a phenomenal pickup and have the tools to star in right away, but it would improve even more given that he is only 22 years old.

However, if Simons wants to succeed in North London, he needs to support any attempt.

The British, former member of the Chelsea first team, will be the perfect box-to-box option. This is when you can reproduce the numbers generated by Lariga throughout 2024/25.

Labeled “sensational” by journalist John Cross, Gallagher gives a presence in the centre of the side, causing a massacre in the attacking area and shows why the club forked £52 million for his signature.

The Atletico star was ranked in the 89th percentile for the tackle victory (1.8) and the 90th percentile for the recovery made (5.9).

However, he must help transition play after winning the ball – something he has shown abundantly in Spain throughout 2024/25.

He averaged 3.5 progressive passes per 90 with a pass completion rate of 85%.

A contract with Gallagher would be an expensive addition, but he will be someone who can help change Frank’s aspect for the better between now and the end of Dane’s reign.

If he can raise his partnership with Simons in 2025/26, it would be a valuable investment and could complete the summer overhaul of the mid-season division.
