  • Joshua Zirkzee is struggling at Manchester United
  • West Ham are ready to offer Zirksee a chance

Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee, who signed for Manchester United in 2024 for around £35-36 million, is reportedly attracting interest from up to three clubs in a bid for more playing time.

According to tracking journalist Fabrizio Romano, West Ham United have emerged as the frontrunners to sign the forward in the January window.

Zirkzee’s move to Man United was intended as a major step in his career. The Dutch national team, who had a good performance in Bologna, joined with the expectation that he would compete for a regular spot.

However, his time at United was characterized by limited game time, few starts and growing doubts about his long-term fit within the team.

Romano’s update highlights that West Ham are actively monitoring Zirksee’s situation, with United not giving him consistent minutes.

The Dutchman is reportedly “not satisfied” with his current role and is at increased risk of being dropped from the national team ahead of a major tournament.

As United continue to strengthen their squad and rotate frequently, there is no doubt that Zirksee’s path to the first team has become even narrower.

Zirkzee continues to make significant financial and project investments. Letting him leave midway through the season could send a message about the team’s stability, but retaining a disgruntled player could hinder team morale and prevent new replacements.

The growing interest in Zirksee from clubs such as West Ham suggests his Man United branch may be at a crossroads.

There is no doubting his talent and there is significant investment by United, but the mismatch between expectations and opportunity is becoming increasingly clear.

For Zirkzee, a January move could bring regular game time and a fresh start.
