Leeds United are reportedly interested in signing Maccabi Tel Aviv’s Malian midfielder Issoufou Sissouho.

The 23-year-old midfielder has performed very well with the Israeli national team and could be a great addition for Leeds United. They need more quality and depth in the middle of the park and Sisoho would be a great signing.

Leeds keen to sign Issoufou Sissokho

Pete O’Rourke told Football Insider:

“He plays for Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel. He has also played in Champions League qualifying and in the Europa League. So he has a good European pedigree.”

“Obviously, as you said, people might be surprised that Leeds are in the market for a midfielder, because I think Leeds’ midfielders have been OK this season.

“They have[Ethan]Ampadu and the summer signings of Anton Stach and Sean Longstaff are definitely making a big impact in midfield.

“Perhaps Sisokho is an option presented to Leeds and could be good value for money in that respect, as he still has 18 months left on his contract.

“As I said, Leeds are obviously keeping an eye on him, so let’s see if they follow up and increase their interest.”

He has the physicality to thrive in English football and could help Leeds United develop. They are looking quite vulnerable defensively and need a reliable defensive midfielder to help tighten up the back. The 23-year-old midfielder will protect the backs and allow more creative players to operate more freely.

The opportunity to join Leeds United would be a very exciting one for the midfielder. It would be a big step up in his career and an opportunity to test himself in the Premier League. A move from Israel to England would be a huge upgrade for the player.

There is no doubt that he has what it takes to do well in English football, and it remains to be seen whether Leeds will be able to sign him in January.

They want to establish themselves as Premier League regulars and will need to fill holes in their squad in January. The season didn’t start well for them, but they will hope to bounce back strong. Signing a quality player midway through the season could help them get back on track.

The 23-year-old midfielder will aim to make an immediate impact in the Premier League if the move goes through.
