Plans are beginning to take shape for a promising group of novice hurdlers under the guidance of Philip Hobbs and Johnson White, with Sober Glory among the first expected to make a comeback at Sandown on Tingle Creek day. The talented five-year-old, who secured victory in the Great Wood Hurdle for owner Brocade Racing, enhanced his reputation by remaining undefeated in his hurdle debut at Chepstow and is now set to compete in the Betfair Exchange Claremont Novices hurdles at Esher.
Johnson White commented, “We have at least three promising novice hurdlers, all of whom have performed well in races, and I anticipate them running within the next month or so.” He added, “I expect Sober Glory to be heading to Sandown on December 6th.”
Similarly, Starzand and Captain Hugo have also made strong impressions with their initial races. The team is considering the best way to manage their paths to keep the two standout horses apart for as long as possible. White explained, “We need to discuss with the owners and jockeys about their plans, the journey they want for each horse, and the best strategy to keep them separate.”
He further noted, “I’m thinking of Captain Hugo running in the Formby Hurdle at Aintree on Boxing Day, and Starzand in the Charlow at Newbury on December 29, but these plans are tentative.” White concluded, “The horses are in good health and full of energy, and importantly, they show a quality we are eager to witness as we look forward to some exciting days ahead.”
