  • Kalvin Phillips continues to struggle with Man City
  • Possibility of career revival with move to Leeds United

Leeds United are eyeing a move for midfielder Kalvin Phillips in the January transfer window, the Daily Star reports, as reported by MOTLeeds News.

The midfielder is a fan favorite at Elland Road and was part of the team that won promotion to the Premier League in 2019-20.

The English midfielder enjoyed a fantastic spell in the top flight for Los Blancos and his impressive performances earned him a big-money move to Manchester City.

Phillips didn’t get enough playing time under Pep Guardiola and his £50m move to the Etihad fell through.

The midfielder has been sent out on loan several times, but this did not add anything to his career.

Leeds United and manager Daniel Farke are now interested in signing him in the upcoming January transfer window and are ready to offer him the chance to revive his career away from the Etihad Stadium.

Farke’s team is currently struggling in the Premier League, and could be relegated from the top flight due to a lack of depth and unsatisfying quality.

They are set to use the January transfer window to strengthen their squad and Phillips is high on their list of transfer targets.

The 29-year-old star could have to consider a move away from the Premier League if a move to Leeds does not materialize, according to reports.

A loan move from Man City with guaranteed playing time could work wonders for Phillips, especially at Leeds where he played some of the best football of his career.

Jack Grealish was in a similar situation at City, but now looks like a completely different player at Everton, and the move has given him not only minutes but also the confidence he was missing.

A move to Leeds could do the same for Phillips, but only if Falke’s side can persuade Man City to contribute part of his £250,000-a-week wages.
