  • Manchester United’s team needs a new contract
  • Decided to sell Mynu to fund Wharton’s relocation
        • Manchester United sign ‘best winger in the country’ to replace Amadou and Mbeumo

Manchester United could sell Koby Mainou to Chelsea in 2026 to fund the move of an exciting new midfielder.

Manchester United’s team needs a new contract

The Red Devils are preparing to face Bournemouth on Monday amid some concerns over the signing of Reuven Amorim.

Harry Maguire and Matthijs de Ligt remain absent for Cherries’ trip to Old Trafford, but striker Benjamin Sesco could feature after sustaining a foot injury.

Questions remain over the availability of Nousair Mazraoui, Amad Diallo and Brian Mbeumo ahead of the trip to the African Cup of Nations, but Amorim is hopeful United can cope without them.

Mason Mount is one player the Portuguese will certainly rely on, especially after his man-of-the-match performance against Molineux on Monday.

“He’s a very, very smart player,” Amorim said. “He’s really technical, because being a technical player isn’t just about enjoying the ball, it’s about the quality of the passes, the reception, the way he receives the ball. He’s really smart in those respects.”

“He is a very good player because he can balance the team well.”

INEOS are looking to strengthen their coaching team in the upcoming transfer window while maintaining financial stability, and are currently eyeing one of the Premier League’s rising stars.

Decided to sell Mynu to fund Wharton’s relocation

Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness told Football Insider he had heard United were planning a one-in, one-out swap for two England internationals.

“I think this is very unfair and I think Mainu is wasting his talent in that sense. I don’t think that for some reason he didn’t catch the eye of (Ruben) Amorim. He just doesn’t think he fits the style.”

“I think they decided that Adam Wharton would be one of their targets and I think Mainu might reinvent himself at Chelsea.

“That’s how I see things going and that’s the whispers I’ve been hearing. I think that’s good for Mainu. I think he needs to get out of there and move on.”

The Guardian also confirmed that United, along with Liverpool and Real Madrid, are interested in Wharton, with Crystal Palace expected to demand “in excess of £80m”.

Wharton’s camp have made no secret of his desire to play in the Champions League, with his agent James Featherstone telling talkSPORT last week: “We have a plan, we don’t have to achieve it at the moment.

“He has goals during the game and during the season, so he has to do what he has to do. And the rest will take care of itself in a very systematic and calm way to ultimately get the most out of his talent.”
