Celtic are currently reported to be making inquiries for a new manager, a day after Peter Lawwell’s departure from the club and further defeat for Wilfried Nancy.

Lawall admits ‘abuse and intimidation’ at Celtic became ‘unbearable’

It has been a disastrous season for Celtic. The Bhoys appeared to have steadied their ship by hiring veteran manager Martin O’Neill on an interim basis, but it looked like their title defense was far from over. However, the decision to hire Nancy was taken before a critical moment, and Glaswegians have since regretted their choice.

Following the defeat to Dundee United, Nancy became the first Celtic manager since 1978 to suffer four consecutive defeats for the club. This means it’s been a nightmare start for the new manager, and fans are already starting to turn away.

Nancy’s arrival at Celtic Park was of little help to club president Rowell, who announced at the end of December that he was resigning from his position in Scotland after suffering “intolerable” abuse.

The 66-year-old told the club’s website: “While I believe that I have shown the ability to meet and overcome challenges on many fronts, the increasing abuse and threats from some quarters have now become intolerable. They have embarrassed and alarmed my family.

It was a tough start for Nancy.

“At this stage in my life, I don’t need this. I cannot accept this. I have therefore decided to leave the club I have loved all my life. The motives and objectives of these detractors can be investigated by others. I look back on my career at Celtic with deep gratitude and satisfaction.”

There seems to be a good chance that Nancy will also follow the chairman out. According to Team Talk, Celtic are currently making inquiries regarding a new manager.

Every game over the next few weeks will be considered a must-win for Nancy. The Hoops next face Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership, but defeat could mean the new manager will not be able to hold on after just five games in the role.

Parkhead chiefs are already concerned and appalled by Nancy’s disastrous start and have quietly begun exploring contingency plans, with them already “considering” their options after another disastrous day on Wednesday.

However, the Frenchman remained optimistic and told reporters after the defeat to Dundee United: ‘I’m happy. “It’s a first for me to lose four in a row. It’s a first for the players, too. It’s a first for the players, too.”

“I understand that they are upset, but all I can say to them is that I think we performed well. We missed goals that could have been good for us, but we are still working to win the next game.”

“We don’t have a lot of time to work, but when we do work, we work hard. And again, it was a good performance. But the results weren’t there.”

He was just as bad as Kenny: Nancy has to flop Celtic, who lost 100% of the Duel.
