  • Ruben Neves expected to leave Al Hilal
  • Man United decide to sign new midfielder

According to GiveMeSport, Manchester United have held exploratory negotiations with Jorge Mendes, the agent of his client Ruben Neves.

The Al Hilal midfielder has been linked with a move away from the Saudi Professional League, with clubs across Europe receiving a warning.

As well as Manchester United, clubs such as Juventus and Atletico Madrid are also in talks with Neves’ agent to explore opportunities to sign him in the January transfer window.

The 28-year-old Portuguese midfielder left the Premier League to join the Saudi revolution in the Middle East.

The midfielder now feels his time in Saudi Arabia is coming to an end and is ready to return to European football to compete at the highest level.

Ruben Neves expected to leave Al Hilal

Neves has made it clear to Al Hilal that he is not interested in signing a new contract.

If he becomes available, the Saudi side are expected to ask just £15m for the midfielder, which would feel like a bargain for a player of his quality and talent.

Man United are looking for a new midfielder but have not yet decided whether they will sign a player in that position in January or wait until the summer transfer window.

They are eyeing several reinforcements and new midfielders as coach Ruben Amorim looks to reshape his midfield.

United have now turned their focus to strengthening their midfield after signing attackers and defenders in recent periods.

Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson has been strongly linked with a move to the Red Devils, while Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton is another name who has impressed the Old Trafford recruitment team.

Uncertainty over the futures of Casemiro and Coby Mainu, as well as Manuel Ugarte’s poor form, led United to pursue a move for the midfielder.

Neves, who is known for his long-distance passing and defensive ability as well as contributing to the team’s attack structure, could be an ideal signing for United and could be acquired for a cheap fee in the January transfer window.

It remains to be seen whether Manchester United will take this opportunity to sign him, but they do know they have great options to consider.
