Bournemouth and West Ham are reportedly in a high-stakes battle to sign Real Betis prodigy Pablo Garcia.

Fijages reports that both Premier League clubs are prepared to trigger the 19-year-old’s €30 million ($2.6 million) release clause in a move that shows both “sporting urgency and vision for the future”.

The race to sign the Spanish starlet is at a crucial crossroads with both sides looking to the winter market for a solution to their struggles in the top flight, while Wolves have also been linked with him.

The appeal of a release clause is undeniable for West Ham. The Hammers reportedly want to avoid “long-term negotiations” with Real Betis and want a direct route to meeting the valuation to avoid a potential bidding war.

Executing the €30 million clause would provide a complete break and ensure the player integrates into the team immediately.

Bournemouth also share this proactive approach. Following Antoine Semenyo’s high-profile move to Manchester City, manager Andoni Iraola is looking for a replacement who offers similar verticality and speed.

Cherries bosses believe Garcia’s cap justifies the big expense for the teenager and view the investment as a calculated risk.

Pablo Garcia is widely considered to be one of La Liga’s most exciting attacking players.

A versatile winger who primarily plays on the right, but can also cut inside with his deadly left foot, the 19-year-old has been compared to some of Spain’s elite wide players.

Garcia, who came through Betis’ youth ranks, made a name for himself as a top scorer in Spain’s youth leagues before making his first-team debut in early 2025.

He truly made his presence known on the international stage at the 2025 UEFA European U-19 Championship, where he was the tournament’s top scorer, scoring a sensational four goals in the semi-final against Germany.

West Ham have been active since January in a bid to survive relegation.

The move to sign Garcia is part of West Ham board and manager Nuno Espirito Santo’s splurge in January.

The Hammers, who currently sit in the relegation zone, have already been in action this month, strengthening their blunt attack with the signings of strikers Tati Castellanos and Pablo Felipe.

The recent dramatic 2-1 win against Tottenham provided a glimmer of hope, but the board remains committed to giving Nuno the tools he needs to avoid relegation.

Garcia is seen as an “attacking catalyst” who could transform West Ham’s season and provide the energy and unpredictability they need to maintain their Premier League status.
