Sheffield United are currently looking to sign a defensive reinforcement who is represented by the same agent as Mark McGuinness.

Wilder predicts ‘great’ Millwall challenge

As chaos begins in the run-up to transfer deadline day, Chris Wilder has the difficult task of leading his team to victory against a Millwall side currently aiming to qualify for the Championship play-offs.

Previewing Saturday’s fixture, the Sheffield United manager told reporters: “They (Millwall) are a really honest bunch of players. I like the manager, I’ve known him for a long time.

“He’s had a successful managerial career, starting with Hamilton and then progressing to the Premier League with Norwich. “He’s a good operator and we’ve got some really honest players in the team who are number five.

“So what does a team of honest players do? They want to fight, they want to run around, they want to play football, they want to play effective football, they want to win games. And they did that. So this is a great challenge and I’m looking forward to it too.”

“I really like going there. It may sound silly, but I think so. I think it’s a proper football ground. It’s going to be full. It’s a great experience for the young players as well. I’ve talked to players like Femi, Blaster, Sidi and Brooksy.”

The Den certainly provides a testing atmosphere as well. It’s known as one of the most difficult places to get to, and Wilder is probably well aware of that.

A win on the pitch could be a great way to start an important few days and could slow things down in the transfer window.

Sheffield United close to signing McGlinchey

Sheffield United are now close to signing Harry McGlinchey on a permanent deal with Chelsea, having secured pole position ahead of Wolverhampton Wanderers and Birmingham City, as reported by Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke.

Both Birmingham and Wolves are targeting a left-back, but this time it looks like the Blades have snatched a point from their transfer rivals.

On paper, rumors that he intends to fend off such interest may come as a surprise. After all, Birmingham are still in the play-offs and Wolves are still a Premier League team. But what they don’t have is the boost that Mark McGuinness provides.

The Sheffield United centre-back is with the same agency as McGlinchy, which may have helped the deal progress as the deadline approaches.
