  • Will Chelsea go ahead with a deal for Jaquet today?
  • Jeremy Jaquet could be a great signing

Rennes defender Jeremy Jacquet has been linked with a move this month, with Chelsea keen to sign him.

Kabe Solhekor reports that the 20-year-old defender only wants to join Chelsea and has already agreed personal terms with the London club.

It will be interesting to see if the Blues can get a deal done this month. They are in dire need of reinforcements in their defense and the 20-year-old would be a solid long-term signing. He has proven to be one of the best young defenders in Ligue 1 and has the quality to excel in the Premier League.

Will Chelsea go ahead with a deal for Jaquet today?

Chelsea and Rennes will play on Saturday night, and Sky Sports reporters have revealed that there could be a development after each game.

He wrote:Jeremy Jacquet only wants to sign for Chelsea. Personal terms were fully agreed. Chelsea and Rennes will play on Saturday night. I look forward to seeing what happens after the game.“

Chelsea will no doubt be keen to get a deal done before the window closes. He will be a long-term acquisition for them.

If the Blues want to do well in the second half of the season, they need to tighten up at the back. They will be desperate to qualify for the Champions League next campaign. They have had multiple injury problems at the back, with players like Axel Disasi and Benoît Badiashile falling out of favor. Chelsea need to replace them and signing a young French player would be ideal.

The defender has been linked with moves from clubs such as Liverpool, but it appears he has decided to move to London. The development will be a blow to the Premier League champions and will no doubt prompt Chelsea to finalize the process soon.
