These results have seen the Red Devils move into fourth place in England’s top flight, with them now just three points behind Aston Villa, who sit just above them.

Carrick’s decision to revert to a 4-2-3-1 system, a formation the club had adopted even before Ruben Amorim’s tenure, has undoubtedly helped the club’s recent run of form.

But he has allowed certain players to develop, as seen by the impressive numbers he has produced since the former player took over the reins last month.

Bruno Fernandes’ remarkable development under Carrick

While the Portuguese international was still able to remain a bright light for the club, as evidenced by his 37 goal contributions, there is no doubt that his quality in the final third has suffered.

Carrick’s arrival has seen the Red Devils’ number eight shift further forward, allowing him to play a key role in recent weeks under caretaker manager.

Bruno has provided the most assists in four games since taking over, with 12 in the Premier League alone this season.

He also found the back of the net in the recent win over Tottenham Hotspur, sparking the Red Devils’ four-game winning streak.

The 31-year-old is undoubtedly one of the stars of the first-team squad once again and the club are undoubtedly lucky to have a player of his quality.

Manchester United star is becoming one of the best players alongside Fernandes

There is no denying that United have fallen well short of the standards many would expect of them in recent years, as evidenced by their dismal results in the Premier League.

The Red Devils have finished eighth or lower in each of the past two seasons, and last season’s 15th place was their worst result since the Premier League’s inception.

But it’s not for lack of trying, with the hierarchy raising money, with £800m expected to be spent in the summer of 2022 alone.

Manchester United’s most expensive contract in history

Many of their additions have not lived up to expectations.

The Red Devils reportedly paid £71m to sign the Cameroonian, but such a sum now looks like a bargain considering his recent form at Old Trafford.

He has been forced to play in a variety of positions since his big-money move, but like Bruno, he has found a more natural role at the top end of the pitch.

The 26-year-old has started every game since Carrick arrived and the continued faith the manager has shown in him has allowed him to reach incredible levels.

He has now found the back of the net in three of Carrick’s last four games in charge, with his goal against Spurs last weekend taking his tally to nine league goals this season.

His basic stats this season also underline his importance to United, with the attacker already cementing his place as one of the club’s most important players.

Mbeumo has the highest shot accuracy and highest conversion rate of any player in the senior ranks, which undoubtedly highlights his clinical nature in the final third.

He has also created 1.6 chances per 90 this season and completed 35% of his attempted crosses, which puts him in the top 5% of all players in his division.

The pairing of him and Bruno inside the final three at Old Trafford is certainly something that has excited supporters in recent weeks, with each figure showing their talent.

The prospect of this pair playing together for years to come could certainly give United the tools they need to compete in the Premier League, whether under Carrick or a new manager.
