Manchester United are reportedly one of the clubs who have made inquiries regarding Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde.

This is according to a report from Mundo Deportivo, who have linked Manchester City and Aston Villa as potential suitors for the Spain international, meaning his future at the Camp Nou may be in some doubt.

Balde was recently linked with Liverpool’s signing from fellow Spaniard Fichajes in a deal worth €60 million, but it is not yet clear what will happen to him this summer.

There is a lot of interest in Balde, with Mundo Deportivo reporting that the 22-year-old is keen to stay at Barcelona.

They added that there is still no formal offer for the player, even though it appears there has been initial contact to register interest and investigate the situation.

Alejandro Balde transfer is perfect for Manchester United

Balde has perhaps not been at his best for Barça this season, but he is still a top talent and looks like he has a big future in this game.

Manchester United could also sign a new left-back as an upgrade to the aging and injury-prone Luke Shaw. That’s why we recently gave this player a very high score in our Transfer Fit rating system. Click here to read more about how it is calculated…

United’s acquisition of Balde would certainly improve their current and future squad, and previous reports of Balde’s transfer fee of €60 million suggest this could be a bargain.

Where should Alejandro Balde choose to leave Barcelona?

Balde may be looking favorably on a move to Old Trafford at the moment as United aim to return to the Champions League next season.

At the same time, they’ve become a bit of a chaotic club in recent years, so a place like Liverpool, City or even Villa might be more appealing.

LFC could also look to upgrade at left-back, as Milos Kerkes had a somewhat disappointing first season at Anfield.

However, it is not clear whether City would be the best move as Balde could struggle to overtake the in-form Nico O’Reilly in the starting XI.

Villa could also be an interesting move as they are once again challenging for Champions League qualification and could give Vardet a key role as Lucas Digne’s long-term successor.
