Rangers are in danger of losing one of their key stars ahead of Danny Rohr’s arrival as manager in the early summer and could be tempted by a ‘lucrative’ offer.

The international break has given the Gers time to catch their breath ahead of a fierce title battle in the Scottish Premiership.

Hearts are still in the lead, but Rangers are not far behind. Rohr’s side need only to close the three-point gap, and have already done enough to close the gap on third-placed Celtic by two points.

His old company wants him too.

Of course, it’s worth noting that Rolls hasn’t even spent a full season at Ibrox. His influence has been incredible, removing the mess that Russell Martin left behind and turning them into a title-challenging team.

Regardless of silverware this season, the German is likely to be strengthened in the summer transfer window.

On the transfer front, several names are already threatening to attract attention, including Tyrese Campbell and Kilmarnock’s David Watson.

The latter is particularly noteworthy. The 21-year-old has become one of Scotland’s most talented young midfielders this season and now finds himself at the center of contention between the old clubs.

But new players aren’t the only thing the 49ers need to worry about. Rangers risk losing James Tavanier this summer if they receive a huge offer from the multi-billion Saudi football club, according to former Premier League scout Mick Brown.

Rangers face big decision on Tavernier

At this rate, Tavernier’s iconic Rangers career will end when his contract expires this summer. In that case, the captain would resign as a club legend, but Brown said a decision has not been made at this point.

“He has been an important player there for many years and given his age I think he would like to stay here and maybe finish his career there.

“But that said, I’m sure if at this stage in my career I had a lucrative offer to go somewhere else, I might just want to take one last payday.

“Obviously a lot will depend on Rangers’ feelings and whether they want to offer him a new contract, but even if they did, I don’t think it would be guaranteed. He might look at it and say, why did it take so long? They’re obviously not sure about that, so a rival offer could tempt him to move on.”

Previous reports suggested there was interest in the right-back from Saudi Arabia this summer, but it remains to be seen whether Tavernier decides to leave or puts pen to paper on a new contract with Rangers.
