Manchester United are interested in signing Leeds United midfielder Tanaka Ao at the end of this season.

The 27-year-old Japanese international has performed well in the Premier League but has not started regularly for Leeds United this season. According to TEAMtalk, he is open to leaving the club in order to play regularly next season and hopes to remain in the Premier League.

The midfielder recently impressed with Michael Carrick with his tenacious display against Manchester United as Leeds United defeated Manchester United at Old Trafford. It remains to be seen whether Manchester United will make a formal offer to sign him in the summer.

The 27-year-old could be a very useful player for the Red Devils. They need a quality defensive midfielder, especially after Casemiro’s departure. A replacement for Manuel Ugarte will also be needed in the summer. Uruguay International has not been able to live up to expectations.

Tanaka’s move would be ideal even if Manchester United decide to invest in a quality defensive midfielder in the summer. It adds depth and luxury to the middle of the park. The opportunity to play for Manchester United would be hard for him to turn down. At this stage of his career, that would be a big step up.

Newcastle United and Everton are also interested in the Leeds United star, and it remains to be seen where he will go. Reed’s camp will be hoping to salvage as many memories as possible from his departure and will be hoping for a summer bidding war.
