  • Arsenal plan to sign Lukas Bergvall
  • Arsenal plan Sol Campbell style raid
        • Arsenal focus on ‘one of the best wingers in the world’ that Ange wanted at Spurs

Arsenal are plotting a move for Tottenham Hotspur star Lukas Bergvall, with their north London rivals currently facing relegation from the Premier League.

Although the Gunners failed in their trip to the Etihad Stadium, they have reached the Champions League semi-finals and remain top of the Premier League, and are set for a very exciting end to the season.

Spurs’ current predicament will no doubt be a source of great joy for many of their fan base, as Georginio Rutter scored a 95th-minute equalizer against Brighton on Saturday, denying Roberto De Zerbi his first win.

But there is a bigger concern for Arsenal at the moment, with their 2-1 defeat at Manchester City on Sunday in a game that could have major implications in the race for the Premier League title.

Pep Guardiola’s side are now just three points clear of the top of the table after games and have a chance to overtake the north Londoners by defeating Burnley at Turf Moor on Wednesday night.

Arteta will be focused on getting his side finally over the line after a tough period since the EFL Cup final, but plans are afoot behind the scenes for the summer transfer window.

Arsenal plan to sign Lukas Bergvall

According to a report from Caught Offside, Arsenal are currently planning a surprise move for Tottenham star Lucas Bergvall, who ENIC are keen to keep as he is seen as a key element of the squad.

If Spurs are willing to cash in, they are expected to open talks for £50m, but the midfielder’s contract runs until the summer of 2031, so there is no immediate need for a sale.

Chelsea and Barcelona are also said to be interested in the 20-year-old, who is described by JJ Bull of The Athletic as having a “Modrić-like first touch”.

It has been a difficult season for Spurs, with Bergvall missing most of the season due to injury, but he did manage to make 20 Premier League appearances, scoring one goal and providing three assists.

Arsenal plan Sol Campbell style raid

Of course, direct transfers between the North London rivals are rare and Sol Campbell’s move to Highbury caused a rift, but it proved to be a great move as the defender delivered two Premier League titles and three FA Cups.

However, Bergvall is extremely inexperienced and has often featured only as a substitute for Spurs this season, while Campbell was 26 years old when he made the shock move to Arsenal.

Given that Declan Rice and Martin Zvimendi have maintained stable places in the starting XI, Christian Norgaard has barely featured this season and Arteta has plenty of players in midfield, the Spurs star is probably an unnecessary signing.
