Bailey Rice has currently rejected offers for a new contract and is set to leave Rangers this summer amid offers from European clubs.

Bailey Rice open to leaving Rangers

Before the summer even arrived, the Rangers were given some disappointing news. It is increasingly likely that Rice, who has struggled desperately to grab star players from his academy, will be on his way this summer.

The 18-year-old midfielder could have earned more first-team minutes this season, but an untimely injury quickly halted his progress. This, coupled with a change in management, meant that Rice was often watching games as a reserve player.

“Yes, I think for Bailey the first thing is to come back from a major injury. He’s working hard in this case and then we’ll make a decision on our side.” (Danny Rohr)

The teenager would not be the first young talent to leave Scotland in recent years. Rangers and Celtic have lost quality players in recent years, with players like Ben Doak choosing to step up elsewhere.

It remains to be seen whether the Ger family still has a chance to defuse the situation. Reports suggest Rice is set to leave Ibrox and time is running out.

Schalke submits offer for Reis

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has shared the latest information he has heard about the young midfielder, claiming that Schalke have submitted an offer to sign Rice this summer. The German club will also be joined by European powerhouse Ajax in pursuit of the midfielder, sparking an unexpected conflict.

For a club as prestigious as Ajax, it would be especially difficult to say no. Their reported interest only highlights the player Rangers are likely to take a big hit with on a free contract this summer.

Tavernier sets goal of 5 wins after winning title in late stages

Although Rice may be on the verge of exit, Rangers’ full focus should be on finishing off their bid for the Scottish Premiership title. They remain just one point behind Hearts with five games remaining, including games against Celtic and the Shock League leaders.

Club captain James Tavanier is well aware of what’s at stake these days and urged Rangers to avoid making any mistakes, telling reporters: “We can only focus on ourselves and not on anyone else.

The Gers will have another week off before returning to play against Motherwell.

“We just need to win five games and hope that gets us where we want to be at the end of the season. That’s obviously the aim and now we’re hoping for clean sheets and not trying to make the games difficult for ourselves.”
