Liverpool are reportedly stepping up efforts to secure a move for RB Leipzig winger Yann Diomande, but a deal could have to wait until next summer.

The Reds have been keeping an eye on Diomande for some time, but it is clear they are increasingly viewing the Ivory Coast international as a priority target.

This is according to a report from TEAMtalk, which also mentions the issue that Leipzig would ideally want to keep Diomande for at least another year.

The 19-year-old has been in really good form this season with 13 goals and six assists in all competitions, and we understand that Arsenal are also interested in him.

Waiting for Liverpool vs. Yann Diomande transfer

Still, TEAMtalk claims Leipzig want to keep Diomande for a little longer, meaning LFC may have to wait until the summer of 2027 to sign the talented young attacker.

It will be very difficult for Leipzig to replace Diomande, but Liverpool could really get away with signing a player now to replace Mohamed Salah, who is already set to leave Anfield at the end of the season.

Sometimes we see deals being done in advance, such as the move of Giorgi Mamadashvili to Liverpool, and the same was true of Christopher Nkunku’s move from Leipzig to Chelsea.

However, given Liverpool’s poor form this season and Salah’s impending departure, it remains to be seen whether they are prepared to wait another year before bringing in Diomande.

The Merseyside giants will probably need to focus on players who can join immediately, so it will be interesting to see how this develops and if the club starts to look at other targets instead.
