Dortmund enter transfer race, with Arsenal eyeing €40m defender

Arsenal are interested in signing PSV Eindhoven’s Spanish defender Jarek Gasiorowski.

According to a report in Fussball Daten, the transfer fee for the 21-year-old defender could be around 35-40 million euros. He has impressed since his move to the Netherlands and could be a quality long-term investment for Arsenal. But they already have a well-staffed defensive unit. They may struggle to provide him with regular opportunities next season.

Gasiorowski will need regular opportunities to continue developing. Sitting on the bench at a big club doesn’t do him any good. He should aim to join a club with a defined role in the starting lineup. It will be interesting to see if Arsenal can persuade the player to join the club and accept a role as an international player.

They will be fighting for the league title and the UEFA Champions League. They need a better team. They plan to sell Ben White in the summer. It remains to be seen whether they will be able to sign the Spanish defender.

The 21-year-old can play as a central defender or left-back. He could be the ideal utility man for Arsenal. Gasiorowski has contributed five goals this season. However, with players like Riccardo Calafioli and Piero Hincapie at the club, it will be difficult for the Spanish defender to get game time.

Arsenal certainly have the financial power to sign him, but they will also need to convince the player.

Borussia Dortmund are also interested in signing the versatile defender. They could provide him with regular opportunities, which could help him develop further and fulfill his potential. It will be interesting to see where he ends up.
