Newcastle United are prepared to let Joe Willock go at the end of the season.

The midfielder has struggled to get regular minutes at Newcastle, and a move for him would be ideal for the team. He is entering the final 12 months of his contract with the club, making this the last opportunity to sign a player for cash. They wouldn’t want to lose him on a free transfer. It would make sense for Newcastle to sell players so they can properly fill their ranks.

Manager Chris Waugh told The Athletic: “Joe Willock is in the final year of his contract and Newcastle will be open to offers. Midfield replacements are already being closely monitored.”

On the other hand, the midfielder also needs regular opportunities to play, so he will be leaving the club. Newcastle would be ideal for him. He would want to play more often at this stage of his career. He is 26 years old and at the peak of his career. Sitting on the bench at Newcastle will not do him any favors.

It will be interesting to see if he can find a suitable destination for himself. Meanwhile, Newcastle need more quality in the center of the park. They should look to add more depth to their defensive midfield department.

Selling the 26-year-old midfielder would help raise new funds in the transfer market.

It has been a disappointing season for Newcastle and they need quality reinforcements. In order to improve the team, it is necessary to release peripheral players in the summer.

Willock has previously proven his quality in the Premier League and could be a very valuable signing for the right team. He needs to join a club that offers him regular opportunities. Where he ends up remains to be seen.
