Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams, currently part of Spain’s squad for the 2026 World Cup, is a transfer target for Arsenal this summer.

The Gunners appear to continue to keep an eye on Williams’ situation as he begins to reconsider his future with Bilbao.

According to TEAMtalk, Manchester United and Liverpool are also mentioned as clubs to watch, but they also point out that Arsenal have had a strong interest in Williams for some time and are keen to strengthen their left flank this summer.

The 23-year-old could be a good option, but it’s also worth noting that he has suffered a dip in form in the just-ended season, scoring just six goals and providing three assists in La Liga.

Nico Williams transfer talk resurfaces

It’s no surprise that Williams remains on the radar of top clubs like Arsenal, and there’s a good chance the Spain international could end up being a good option if other targets don’t pan out.

Still, it’s a little surprising that Williams is reconsidering his situation again so little time after signing an impressive 10-year deal with Athletic Club.

Presumably, more details will emerge in the future, but it is also possible that there are exaggerations from some source.

Football agents love to feature their homegrown players in the headlines, so with there clearly being a market for top wingers this summer, it could be designed to generate a bit more interest in Williams.

But at the same time, it might be better for Williams himself to focus on his own football and perform well at the World Cup to attract transfer suitors.

Williams was brilliant for Spain as they won Euro 2024, so if he can repeat that form in his homeland this summer, big clubs will be on the lookout for him.
