Chelsea are close to signing Wigan Athletic’s attacking midfielder Harrison Bettoni after reaching agreement on his contract.

Harrison Bettoni’s sensational rise at Wigan Athletic has not gone unnoticed. A number of top clubs across Europe have him on their wishlists, but Chelsea appear to have won the race to sign him.

According to a report from Football Insider, the Blues have agreed to a deal with the teenage attacking sensation. Due to his contract in With Brick Community Stadium running out this summer, the London club moved quickly to secure his services for a minimal fee. He will be part of the youth team next season.

Harrison Bettoni’s sensational rise at Wigan Athletic

Bettoni joined the Ligue 1 side in 2019. He rose through the ranks at some pace and was promoted to the first team last summer. He finished the 2025/26 season with four goals in just 11 starts. The attacking midfielder appeared in a total of 24 games in his first full season, logging nearly 1,000 minutes of playing time.

He made quite a name for himself after his impressive rise at Wigan. He made his league debut in November against AFC Wimbledon. The 18-year-old came off the bench and scored two great goals to help his team win.

Wigan couldn’t protect Bettoni

Wigan were well aware of his potential and were keen to sign him to a new contract, but their efforts were in vain. he doesn’t seem interested in staying there Brick Community Stadium attracts interest from Europe’s top clubs.
