  • Chelsea full-back open to move to Man City
  • High ratings could lead City to other goals

Manchester City’s search for a specialist right-back has been one of the key storylines in Enzo Maresca’s first transfer window to the Etihad.

The new manager is looking for a defender who can contribute in possession, move into advanced areas and adapt between different structures without disrupting the team’s rhythm.

Maresca’s reunion with players he previously coached at Chelsea will shorten the usual adjustment period.

However, due to the huge difference in valuations between the two clubs, City will need to decide whether to increase their offer or move quickly to a more affordable alternative.

Chelsea full-back open to move to Man City

This was revealed by a person close to the agent industry. catch off side Man City have identified Maro Gusto as one of their main defensive targets and believe the French international is open to joining the squad.

City are considering an offer of around 45 million euros, while Chelsea are demanding around 75 million pounds for the 23-year-old.

Price differences remain the biggest hurdle. City Xtra reports that City will not reach Chelsea’s current valuation, but further talks are expected to take place after the World Cup.

Chelsea are not completely opposed to a sale, but will only seriously negotiate if their financial expectations are respected.

The fact that Mr. Gast is familiar with Maresca’s methods is a big draw. He made 72 appearances under the Italian at Stamford Bridge, scoring two goals and providing six assists, so City will be signing someone who already understands the manager’s tactical demands.

High ratings could lead City to other goals

With Gusto remaining on his long-term contract, Chelsea have little reason to add cheap reinforcements to their domestic rivals, giving Chelsea an advantage in negotiations.

His versatility and Premier League experience also make him more valuable than unproven overseas options.

However, City believe Chelsea’s demands are “excessive” and could now turn to other targets.

If Chelsea refuse to compromise, City could consider Newcastle’s Tino Libramento, Feyenoord’s youngster Zivairo Ried and Porto’s Martim Fernandes.

Gusto would be a great tactical signing for Maresca, but £75m is too expensive. City need a natural right-back but are paying a high fee simply because the manager knows the player’s financial planning is poor.

Chelsea are entitled to protect their assets, especially if they sell them to rivals.
