In the World Cup semi-finals, England took the lead against Argentina thanks to Anthony Gordon’s goal!
The former Newcastle United winger, who recently completed a move to Barcelona, scored his first goal at this summer’s World Cup, but he chose an unusual time to do it.

Gordon often played very well from outside wide, so it was no surprise to see him running into the penalty area from the left and scoring into the back of the net.
Still, as England edge closer to reaching their first World Cup final in 60 years, it won’t be long before he scores a bigger goal.

Thomas Tuchel’s bet on Morgan Rodgers pays off
Great play from Morgan Rodgers on the right, not usually his best position, set Gordon up for a simple finish.
Rodgers often played on the left or in the center of attacking midfield for Aston Villa and England, but tonight he had to adapt to a new position.
However, manager Thomas Tuchel’s gamble appears to have paid off, with Rodgers in good form so far, and his cross aimed at Gordon was brilliant.
The right flank has been a problem for England so far in this tournament, with Bukayo Saka’s fitness issues forcing Noni Maduke to feature in many games.
While Maduke has his qualities, he hasn’t made enough of an impact so far, which led to Tuchel testing Rodgers on the right wing tonight, which looks like a tactical masterstroke.
