Arsenal are being forced to rethink key aspects of their attack squad after Chelsea made a decisive move to win the race to sign Morgan Rodgers.

The England international was one of Mikel Arteta’s top targets, but the Gunners must avoid letting that disappointment dictate their next move.

Adding young attackers who can provide goals, carry the ball through pressure and play in multiple positions remains a priority.

Arsenal still have a number of ambitious possibilities on the table, but each option brings its own financial and sporting complications.

Arsenal assess Premier League replacement for Rodgers

Arsenal are considering other attacking targets after Rodgers agreed to join Chelsea, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.

Bournemouth forward Eli Junior Crupi is also an option, while Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola continues to be praised by the north London club.

According to Sky Sports, Chelsea have agreed a £117m package for Rodgers, making him the biggest player in English history, with Rodgers expected to sign a six-year contract with an option for an additional season.

With this result, Arsenal will have to decide whether to pursue a similar profile or change direction completely.

Crupi will provide Premier League experience despite his age. The French forward scored 13 league goals last season and has already caused Arsenal some immediate trouble, but Bournemouth are determined to keep him.

The Guardian previously reported that the Cherries could value him at around £80m, but the latest claims put the required package closer to £100m.

Gunners must avoid expensive reactions

Barcora would offer more natural width, acceleration and a one-on-one threat from the left.

However, PSG’s position remains unclear while contract negotiations continue, with Liverpool also maintaining strong interest.

Arsenal should not treat Crupi as a consolation prize. He is an exciting talent with a genuine Premier League track record, but after losing Rodgers, spending nearly £100m on a 20-year-old would seem reluctant unless Arteta sees him as an automatic starter for the future.

Barcola may be a better fit for Arsenal’s immediate need for a specialist winger, but he could also come at a higher price tag.

The wisest approach is to set firm prices for both players and continue to be prepared to exit.

It’s disappointing to miss out on Rodgers, but Arsenal still have control over their next decision. Their response should be measured and strategic and not driven by a desire to make a statement immediately after the Chelsea takeover.
