        • Aston Villa are in ‘advanced negotiations’ to sign former Premier League star for £17m

Aston Villa have begun contract negotiations with both Alejandro Garnacho and Nicholas Jackson in preparation for Morgan Rodgers’ move to Chelsea.

Villa are looking to sign Joao Gomez for £38m and use Rodgers’ money to give Unai Emery the depth to play in four competitions.

The Blues agreed a £117m deal with Rodgers at the weekend, but Rodgers is due to undergo a medical on Monday before completing his move to Stamford Bridge, and it will also be important for the manager to strengthen his attacking options this summer.

As such, the interest in Jackson makes a lot of sense, as Emery is known to be a big fan of the former Villarreal player and was able to put in some eye-catching performances while on loan at Bayern Munich last season.

Unsurprisingly, the Senegalese striker was behind Ballon d’Or candidate Harry Kane for much of the season, but he still managed to score 11 goals and provide four assists in 34 games in all competitions.

However, it is widely reported that Chelsea are willing to let him leave permanently this summer for 70 million euros (approximately 6 billion yen), which could pave the way for a move to Villa, who are set to raise a significant amount of money from Rodgers’ sale.

Xabi Alonso has admitted that Garnacho is still attracting interest this summer after spending just one season with the Blues. Garnacho appeared in 24 Premier League games and was limited to 1,268 minutes, scoring one goal and providing four assists.

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Aston Villa are now planning a double raid on Chelsea by starting contract negotiations with Garnacho and Jackson, with the latter player reportedly open to a move to Villa Park.

The Villans are also confident they can “consider a deal” for the Senegal international, who worked under Emery at Villarreal, and the Spaniard remains a big fan.

Aston Villa have also brought in Alexander Garnacho as a substitute.

But Garnacho and Jackson aren’t the only forwards Villa are eyeing, as they are also in the process of signing West Ham United star Crisencio Somerville, and have also attracted interest from AS Roma.

It is thought that West Ham could demand £50 million for the Dutch international after his impressive performances at the World Cup, where he scored two goals and provided two assists in four games, losing on penalties to Morocco in the Round of 32.
