Arsenal’s move to sign Bruno Guimarães may have been boosted by the fact that Newcastle United are looking to sign Hugo Larsson in his place.

The Magpies are well aware of Arsenal’s desire to sign Guimarães, and the Brazil international has also indicated he would like to be allowed to leave on a permanent basis.

Having already endured a tough summer with the departures of Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon, Newcastle will no doubt be keen to avoid another high-profile departure.
However, sources suggest Guimarães’ departure is ultimately accepted and the club are keen to line up a replacement.

The problem for Newcastle, and perhaps for Arsenal, is that Manchester United are also keen on Larsson.

A scenario could be envisioned in which United swoop in for Larson and prevent Newcastle from signing an ideal replacement for Guimarães.
If that happens, the Gunners will have to hope NUFC find a replacement or the move to sign Guimarães could really derail.
Larsson looks like a player with great potential and his presence could make sense for now as the Red Devils continue to pursue a third midfield signing.
Youri Tielemans and Andrej Santos are already in, but with Casemiro leaving and Manuel Ugarte injured, there may be room for another contracted player like Larsson to come in and play a key role.
