  • Madrid preparing first offer, personal terms agreed
  • Man City are expected to make further demands for Rodri

Real Madrid are preparing to sign Rodri’s first official transfer in a bid to bring the Spanish midfielder back to La Liga.

The 30-year-old is in the final year of his contract with Manchester City, giving Madrid the opportunity to negotiate a lower fee than would normally be expected from a player of his quality.

Rodri has reportedly rejected City’s latest contract renewal offer and is interested in a move to the Spanish giants.

Madrid are thought to have already made progress on the personal front, but the decisive step will be reaching an agreement with City.

The bid has not been formally accepted and there is still a difference in evaluation between the two clubs.

Madrid preparing first offer, personal terms agreed

According to Nicolo Sylla of X, Real Madrid are ready to make an opening offer for Rodri worth between 50 and 60 million euros.

The midfielder has reportedly agreed in principle on a contract until June 2030.

Sylla also claims Rodri has rejected Manchester City’s offer to extend his stay because he wants to move to Madrid.

This is an important advantage for Florentino Perez, especially when the player’s current contract expires in 2027.

However, acceptance of personal terms does not guarantee transfer. City still need to approve Rodri’s departure and are unlikely to accept Madrid’s initial offer without trying to increase the amount.

Man City are expected to make further demands for Rodri

The Madrid manager reports that Manchester City value Rodri at around 80 million euros, but Madrid do not currently want him to be worth more than 60 million euros.

Although the €20 million difference is significant, Rodri’s contract situation leaves room for compromise. City must decide whether to negotiate now or risk losing one of their most influential players for free next summer.

From Madrid’s point of view, Rodri would bring control, defensive intelligence and leadership to a midfield that is still adjusting to the departure of more experienced players.

He is familiar with Spanish football and the deal would be less risky.

Madrid’s bid is a good start, but 60 million euros may not be enough to seal a deal.

A package with higher guaranteed rates and achievable bonuses could be the solution.

City should fight to keep Rodri, but if he is determined not to renew his contract, it may be wiser to accept a strong offer this summer rather than delay the inevitable.
