The 2026 US Open continues Friday with two men’s semifinal matches that will decide Sunday afternoon’s final, the last Grand Slam title of the year.
No. 1 seed Alexander Zverev and unseeded Karen Khachanov will open up play, as Zverev bids for a second major title of the season after breaking through at Roland-Garros in June for his first career Grand Slam crown. He steamrolled Netherlands’ Botic van de Zandschulp in Wednesday’s quarterfinal and will look to carry that momentum into Friday’s match against Khachanov, who is still seeking his first career Grand Slam final appearance.

The night session brings the match of the day: No. 8 seed Ben Shelton and No. 11 seed Frances Tiafoe in an all-American semifinal at 7 p.m. ET — just the second all-American men’s Grand Slam semifinal since 2005. Whoever survives will be one win away from becoming the first American man to claim a major since Andy Roddick in 2003. This evening’s match will have a lot to live up to following Wednesday’s quarterfinal between Shelton and defending champion Carlos Alcaraz — a grueling four-and-a-half-hour match in which Shelton managed the biggest win of his career as the final shot landed … at 3:33 a.m.
