Hugh Jackman has expressed interest in joining his friend Ryan Reynolds in owning a slice of an English soccer club. As a long-time fan of Norwich City, which is linked to his mother’s hometown in East England, Jackman was asked in a recent interview if he’d consider investing in the team, currently primarily owned by Mark Attanasio of the Milwaukee Brewers.
“I’m definitely keen to explore that possibility at this moment,” Jackman said during a promotion for his new film, “The Death of Robin Hood.” He also mentioned that he could follow in Reynolds’ footsteps, who made headlines by purchasing Wrexham in 2021 and bringing the club into the limelight.
Though Norwich and Wrexham are now competing in the English Championship, Norwich boasts a richer history, having last played in the Premier League four years ago and achieving notable victories, including a memorable win against Bayern Munich in 1993. “Kudos to Ryan, but I’m dedicated to the Canaries,” he remarked, referring to Norwich’s nickname due to their yellow and green kit.
Both clubs are expected to be strong candidates for promotion to the Premier League, which is regarded as the most prestigious soccer league globally. Jackman highlighted Norwich’s positive transformation under Belgian manager Philippe Clement, saying, “It’s an exciting team and it’s going to be an exciting year.”
