In his eight appearances in the U21 Premier League last campaign, the teenager managed to register numerous impressive figures, which could see him be the next player to join Carrick’s squad.
He managed to win an impressive 59% of the ground duels he entered last campaign, subsequently placing him above 92% of players in such a competition.
Such a tally highlights his workmanlike nature at the heart of the midfield – a crucial quality United desperately wanted to add to the senior ranks this summer.
Thwaites also managed to complete 89% of the passes he attempted, leading to him creating 2.4 chances per 90 – which placed him in the top 10% of players in the league.
