LOS ANGELES – Joshua Van and Alexandre Pantoja are turning up the intensity ahead of their rematch.
Tensions have escalated since their initial bout, sparking a heated rivalry clearly visible during their faceoff following the UFC 331 pre-fight media session Thursday at Crypto.com Arena (Paramount+).
Van (17-2 MMA, 10-1 UFC) won their first encounter under contentious circumstances when Pantoja (30-6 MMA, 14-4 UFC) injured his arm after trying to brace a kick Van landed. Pantoja hasn’t fought since that injury, while Van went on to successfully retain his title against Tatsuro Taira in May.
Their August tickets-on-sale press conference saw Van start the trash talk, which only fueled Pantoja’s frustration, and Thursday’s promotional event kept that fire burning.
