The schedule for the 2027 Isle of Man TT race has been announced, marking a departure from tradition by not concluding the event with the Senior TT. Organizers have grappled with numerous scheduling challenges in recent years due to unfavorable weather conditions.
Following the cancellation of the Senior TT in 2025, the 2026 event saw only four of the planned ten races complete their full multiple laps. The Senior TT was called after just one lap and could not be rescheduled, the Superstock class did not take place at all, and only a single Sportbike race was held. Additionally, the Sidecar class was removed completely after several serious crashes during practice week.
To improve scheduling flexibility and ensure the Senior TT runs smoothly, significant adjustments have been made for 2027. The race week will open on Saturday, 5 June, with the six-lap Superbike TT, followed by a four-lap Supersport race on Sunday. Since Sunday has the shortest road closure window, scheduling a shorter race that day allows for more leeway in case of delays. A contingency day is set for Monday, 7 June, before the lone Superstock race takes place on Tuesday, 8 June, covering four laps.
The first Sidecar race will also occur on 8 June over two laps, while the second Supersport and first Sportbike races are slated for Wednesday, 9 June. Thursday, 10 June, is reserved as another contingency day. The highly anticipated 100th running of the Senior TT is scheduled for Friday, 11 June. On Saturday, 12 June, the final Sidecar and Sportbike races will be held, with priority given to the Senior TT in case of any postponements.
Paul Phillips, the head of motorsport at the Isle of Man TT, explained that the 2023 schedule had met important goals by creating stronger opening and closing weekends, increasing racing through the week, and offering fans more choice in attending. The schedule has successfully attracted more fans and delivered greater economic benefits. Building on four years of insight, the 2027 plan aims to refine the balance, offering nine well-defined races. Reducing the Superstock races from two to one allows more focus on the remaining Superstock race and the Sportbike races, while providing better recovery time in the program and protecting the major Superbike and Senior TT events.
Phillips emphasized that this is an evolution, not a return to the pre-2023 format. The new schedule maintains the stronger two-weekend layout and gives each race day a clear purpose — starting with the Superbike Saturday and building up to the historic Senior TT on Friday, which will be more than just a race but a celebration of its legacy.
