Levi Colwill has expressed confidence that Chelsea will emerge from the international break in excellent form.
Under Xabi Alonso, Chelsea initially had an impressive start, clinching four victories in their first five matches across competitions, with just one loss.
However, after managing only a 2-2 draw against a strong Hull City, they suffered a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Brentford in their last match prior to the international hiatus, leaving them without a league win in three games.
Remarkably, Chelsea has already accrued 11 losses in the Premier League for the year 2026, surpassing the total of 10 losses they had throughout the entire year of 2025.
Alonso has become the sixth manager in Premier League history to have his team concede at least two goals in each of their first five matches, joining the ranks of Mick McCarthy, Sammy Lee, Terry Connor, Slavisa Jokanovic, and Scott Parker.

Chelsea’s defensive issues have been well-documented, having allowed 23 goals from non-penalty set-pieces since last season, the highest alongside Bournemouth.
Colwill acknowledged that the season’s beginning hasn’t met expectations, but he is hopeful that the international break will provide an opportunity for improvement.
“There have been some positives and some negatives,” he noted, as per Chelsea’s official site.
“Fortunately, we have some time now to work on our game.” He added, “I’m optimistic that we will return with renewed energy and elevate our performance to become a stronger team.”
Chelsea will resume their campaign on October 10, facing Bournemouth at home.
Fan Take: This news is crucial for soccer supporters as Chelsea’s performance directly impacts the competitive balance in the Premier League. A strong return from the break could revitalize their season, making the title race even more exciting for fans across the league.
