At the Italian WorldSBK round, Ducati rider Nicolo Bulega experienced two practice crashes, which left him feeling frustrated. Crashing has been a rarity for Bulega this season; he hasn’t fallen during any races and has only had a couple of slips throughout the nine rounds so far.
Having two crashes in one day was unusual for the Italian rider, who arrived at the Cremona Circuit for round 10 with a slim but still possible chance of claiming his first WorldSBK title. Despite the challenging Friday, Bulega remains in contention to win the championship on Saturday, a turnaround that would help him put the difficult day behind him. However, it’s his mistakes on the opening day that are currently on his mind.
“Honestly, right now I’m just angry about today,” Bulega told WorldSBK.com after Friday’s second practice. “My main focus now is to regain my good feeling on the bike, then I will think about the title possibilities.”
Bulega shared that he struggled with his bike’s performance throughout the day but is confident that he can bounce back by Saturday. “The feeling wasn’t great today,” he admitted. “I couldn’t ride the way I wanted, but we are working with the team. We might know the cause, so I believe I can return to my usual level of performance tomorrow.”
He further explained, “We need to make some adjustments because there was something about the bike that didn’t feel right today. But I think we know how to set it up so I can push as I want for the next sessions.”
To secure the championship on Saturday, Bulega needs to score 15 points more than his rival, Iker Lecuona. Lecuona topped both Friday practice sessions and noted that his feeling on the Panigale V4 R was the best he’s ever experienced in FP2.
Fan Take:
This development is pivotal for WorldSBK enthusiasts because it highlights the fine margins between triumph and setback in top-level racing. Bulega’s ability to overcome adversity and chase the title will keep fans on edge and could spark a riveting finale in the championship battle.
