Legacy Motor Club confirmed on Sunday that they have secured Erik Jones with a multi-year contract extension, ensuring he remains the primary driver of the No. 43 Toyota Camry XSE for the foreseeable future. Coming next season, Jones will be joined by two new teammates: Josh Berry, who will take over the No. 42 seat from John Hunter Nemechek, and Riley Herbst, who will pilot the newly introduced No. 84 as the team’s third chartered car.
“Erik Jones is the foundation of our Legacy project—he’s earned that role,” stated co-owner and seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson. “He has been involved in every phase of this organization’s transformation, and his consistent performance, professionalism, and deep understanding of NASCAR at this level are exactly what we need as we integrate new drivers and work towards 2027. Retaining Erik in the No. 43 long term was a top priority, and we’re excited to have that secured.”
Jones brings a wealth of experience to the 2027 lineup, boasting three Cup Series victories—including two Southern 500 wins—and more than 350 starts in NASCAR’s premier division. His accomplishments also include nine wins in the NASCAR O’Reilly Series, seven in the Truck Series, and he earned the 2015 Truck Series championship. Jones has driven the No. 43 since before Johnson became a part-owner and rebranded the team as Legacy Motor Club, initially taking the wheel when the car still raced under Richard Petty Motorsports in 2021.
