Heimir Hallgrimsson expressed his admiration for the enthusiasm displayed by his Republic of Ireland team in their 3-0 triumph over Israel in the Nations League.
At Nagyerdei Stadion, the Republic of Ireland dominated Israel, netting three goals within just 12 minutes, credited to Troy Parrott, Adam Idah, and Jack Moylan.
Parrott initiated the scoring in the 13th minute, capitalizing on a pass from James Abankwah, as his shot slipped under goalkeeper Daniel Peretz.
Things progressed for Hallgrimsson’s team when Idah scored just three minutes later, followed by Moylan’s excellent run, which resulted in a goal that found the bottom corner in the 25th minute.
This marked the first time since October 2014 that the Republic of Ireland scored three goals in the opening 25 minutes of a match, previously occurring against Gibraltar, and only the second time in their away history since August 1996 against Liechtenstein.
They also matched their largest win in the Nations League and achieved their largest victory away from home since a 3-0 win against Scotland in June 2022.
For the first time since October 2023 against Gibraltar, the Republic of Ireland had three different players score in a single game without own goals, and Hallgrimsson was delighted with their performance.
“I didn’t anticipate so much energy for the entire 90 minutes,” Hallgrimsson remarked. “There were many empty tanks at the end.”

The Republic of Ireland recorded an expected goals (xG) total of 1.57 from nine attempts, compared to Israel’s 0.31 from their eight shots on goal against Caoimhin Kelleher.
Israel has now allowed three or more goals in 11 matches since the beginning of 2024 across all competitions, the highest number for any UEFA nation during this period, coinciding with troubles in their defense.
Leading up to the first goal, Parrott accounted for all of the last seven goals scored by the Republic of Ireland in competitive internationals (excluding own goals), marking the longest scoring streak by any player for the team.
Meanwhile, Moylan became the first player since Robbie Brady in October 2024 to both score and assist in the same match for the Republic of Ireland.
With six contributions (four goals, two assists) in only four senior international appearances, he aims to continue his scoring run in the upcoming match against Austria this Thursday.
