What to know about the AFC board:
– The favorites: Buffalo (3-0) tops the board at +350; they’ve reached the playoffs in each of the past seven seasons but still haven’t advanced to a Super Bowl since their last AFC title in 1994. Baltimore follows them after showing signs of getting back on track with Lamar Jackson healthy.
– Recent history: The AFC has been dominated recently by Kansas City and New England, who have claimed eight of the last 10 conference crowns (K.C. the last three seasons, New England once). Other AFC Super Bowl participants over the past decade include the Bengals (2021) and Broncos (2016). Kansas City’s odds shortened from +770 to +440 after a 3-0 start.
– Struggling contenders: The Chargers have stumbled to a 0-3 start, averaging just 14.7 points per game, and Justin Herbert has more interceptions than touchdowns through three games. The Patriots have also underwhelmed at 1-2 after a lopsided loss to Jacksonville, and their early-season offensive form has been concerning.
NFC winner odds (DraftKings, Sept. 29)
– Rams: +400 (bet $10 to win $50 total)
– 49ers: +400 (bet $10 to win $50 total)
– Seahawks: +470 (bet $10 to win $57 total)
– Vikings: +870 (bet $10 to win $97 total)
– Eagles: +920 (bet $10 to win $102 total)
– Lions: +970 (bet $10 to win $107 total)
– Bears: +1225 (bet $10 to win $132.50 total)
– Cowboys: +1750 (bet $10 to win $185 total)
– Packers: +3000 (bet $10 to win $310 total)
– Saints: +3100 (bet $10 to win $320 total)
– Panthers: +4200 (bet $10 to win $430 total)
– Falcons: +5100 (bet $10 to win $520 total)
– Commanders: +5600 (bet $10 to win $570 total)
– Buccaneers: +8200 (bet $10 to win $830 total)
– Giants: +8200 (bet $10 to win $830 total)
– Cardinals: +20000 (bet $10 to win $2,010 total)
What to know about the NFC board:
– The favorites: The Rams opened as the NFC favorite and would play the Super Bowl at home if they reach it, but early losses (including to the 49ers and Broncos) and a tough upcoming slate have made their path tricky. The 49ers are off to a 3-0 start, having already beaten the Rams and Cardinals, and a Week 5 trip to Seattle will be an important measuring stick.
– On the rise: Minnesota climbed from +2400 preseason to +870 after a 3-0 start built on stout defense, allowing only about 13.7 points per game through three weeks.
– Falling teams: Green Bay began the year at +900 to win the NFC but has slid to +3000 after a 1-2 start with some lopsided losses. Washington’s odds have also lengthened, partly because of uncertainty around their quarterback’s availability.
Fan Take:
These odds show how quickly fortunes can change early in the NFL season — strong starts can dramatically shorten a team’s title price while slow or injury-plagued openings send lines plummeting. For fans, the shifting board underscores the value of momentum and health in shaping playoff projections and how unpredictable a 17-game season can be.
