Fasig-Tipton is enhancing its support for regional marketplaces by introducing a $500,000 bonus connected to the upcoming 2026 Eastern Fall Yearlings sale. This bonus will be awarded if a horse purchased—or listed but not sold—at this sale goes on to win the 2028 Preakness Stakes.
The $500,000 prize will be split evenly, with $250,000 given to the horse’s current owner at the time of the Preakness victory and the remaining $250,000 awarded to the owner when the horse was entered in the 2026 Eastern Fall Yearlings Sale.
Boyd Browning, President of Fasig-Tipton, expressed enthusiasm about the new incentive, emphasizing the Preakness Stakes’ significance in American horse racing, particularly in the Mid-Atlantic region. He also noted the importance of the bonus coinciding with the 2028 Preakness taking place at the newly renovated Pimlico Race Course, located only nine miles from Fasig-Tipton’s Timonium sales venue.
The Eastern Fall Yearlings Sale is scheduled for Tuesday, October 27, starting at 11 a.m. at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium, Maryland. The sale is currently accepting supplemental entries.
This announcement was first reported by Paulick Report on October 1, 2026.
Fan Take: This bonus is an exciting boost for both buyers and sellers, spotlighting the importance of regional sales in shaping future champions. It could inspire increased competition and investment in local bloodstock, ultimately strengthening the sport’s depth and fan engagement in the Mid-Atlantic racing scene.
