Claudio Marchisio, a former Juventus midfielder, reaffirmed his confidence in Luciano Spalletti as the team’s head coach, despite some fans calling for a return of Antonio Conte.
Spalletti succeeded Igor Tudor as Juventus manager in October 2025, but his squad did not qualify for the Champions League last season, finishing sixth in Serie A.
So far, the 67-year-old has led the team to 24 victories in 44 matches (D12 L8), with four of those wins coming from their first six games this season (D1 L1).
Currently, Juventus stands seventh in Serie A after five matches, boasting the joint-highest number of clean sheets in the league (three), tied with Lazio, Roma, and Cagliari.
Despite being only three points behind early leaders Roma, some fans are clamoring for Conte’s return after he left Napoli earlier this summer. Conte previously managed Juve from 2011 to 2014, where he secured three Serie A titles with a 67.6% win rate across 151 games (W102 D34 L15).
Having played under Conte, Marchisio believes it’s essential for Juventus to give Spalletti more time before considering a change in leadership.
“The yearning for Antonio, whom I deeply admire, will always exist,” Marchisio stated in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport. “This feeling has been present during Allegri’s era and afterward. Conte is iconic, but we need stability, hence my continued faith in Spalletti.”

“Injuries, especially to [Kenan] Yildiz, have impacted the team significantly, but Juventus must not use that as an excuse,” he added. “I expect them to be contenders for the top spots by Christmas and hope to see them as a strong presence in the Europa League. Juventus should strive to win every competition, and the cup should never be taken for granted. It has been 30 years since we last won a European trophy—surely that should motivate us?”
