Earlier this week, it was revealed that WWE NXT wrestler Keanu Carver (real name Kevin Robertson) has been legally barred from contacting another NXT talent due to a protective order against him. This order requires Robertson to maintain a distance of at least 500 feet from the petitioner, whose identity is being withheld for safety reasons. Since the protection order was issued on September 14, Robertson has not appeared on television or been mentioned on WWE programming. A court hearing on September 22 extended the order until October 20. The petitioner reported that just one day before the order was filed, Robertson came to her home, refused to leave, and threatened self-harm, prompting her to call the police.
Following this, Robertson stopped appearing on NXT, and there has been no official update on his WWE status, with Wrestling Observer Newsletter’s Dave Meltzer expressing skepticism about his return. Additional information from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reveals that the petitioner, a former partner of Robertson, accused him of abusive behavior during their past relationship. She alleges that Robertson spat on her, physically prevented her from leaving his home, and made threats against her and her pets. She also claims he woke her by suffocating her with her nose and repeatedly grabbed her throat, threatening to kill her.
The petitioner’s filing further details harassment incidents, including numerous calls in quick succession, persistent knocking at her door, and ignoring messages to cease contact. She describes Robertson showing up late at night and disturbing her sleep to the point it affected her job. To document the disturbances, she recorded video footage of Robertson outside her house and installed a security camera. A concerned neighbor even photographed Robertson asleep against the petitioner’s door. Robertson’s last television match was on September 8, the same day the petitioner says he waited outside her home, grabbed her car when she tried to leave, and later knocked on her door repeatedly while circling the house until morning.
Fan Take: This troubling news sheds light on the serious off-screen issues some wrestlers face and underscores the importance of accountability within the sport. For fans and the industry alike, addressing personal conduct is vital to maintaining trust and safety in the wrestling community.
