Former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury intends to invite US President Donald Trump to lead his ringwalk ahead of his highly anticipated clash with Anthony Joshua. The two British boxing stars are set to face off at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on December 11.
Fury and Trump previously met at UFC Freedom 250 at the White House back in June. Following the lifting of his US travel ban by Trump, the Manchester-born fighter sported a cap with the slogan “Donald Trump for Prime Minister.” Fury, 38, shared, “I’ll definitely offer it to my old friend and see if he’s free,” though he acknowledged it might be unlikely given Trump’s current responsibilities as the US President.
Fury also revealed that his bout with 36-year-old Joshua is part of his preparation for a third showdown with Ukraine’s Oleksandr Usyk. Usyk defeated Fury twice in 2024 and remains undefeated in his 25 professional fights. Fury emphasized that he has “no plans” to retire after facing Joshua, viewing the upcoming fight as a “warm-up for Usyk.” He confidently stated, “To me, this fight is a cakewalk, and I guarantee that on fight night, when I knock him out cold, he won’t know what hit him. After that, I want the rematch with Usyk in New York City.”
Highlighting his recent training, Fury said 2024 is shaping up to be his busiest year since 2018. He has sparred 12 rounds with the towering 6ft 8in Arslanbek Makhmudov and seven rounds with another giant, 6ft 7in Mariusz Wach. “I’m firing on all cylinders right now, feeling fantastic at 38 years young,” he added.

If Fury delivers on his bold promises, this fight could redefine legacy battles in boxing and set the stage for an unforgettable trilogy with Usyk.
