Austin Cindric delivered another impressive performance at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday, finishing fourth in the South Point 400 and marking his second consecutive top-five finish in the Chase. Although Cindric stayed competitive throughout the race, it was Chase Briscoe who ultimately claimed victory, with Kyle Larson and Tyler Reddick pushing hard in the closing laps.
Cindric feels he is very close to scoring his first win, and considering the strong form of the No. 2 car in recent weeks, his confidence seems well-founded. “I think we had a solid car today, close to being able to win,” he said. “It reminded me a lot of last week with the leaders battling and still giving us a chance. I’m proud of everyone on the No. 2 team for bringing two fast cars in consecutive weeks and executing well during this crucial stretch.”
He praised his team’s progress over the weekend, noting that despite qualifying seventh, the No. 2 car led the race for 33 laps—a total surpassed only by Briscoe and Denny Hamlin. “It wasn’t an easy weekend. We didn’t start as close as we needed to in practice or qualifying, but the team worked hard all day to improve the car,” Cindric explained. “It takes a great team to perform consistently at this level. We just want to win.”
Though Cindric is currently 128 points behind the Chase leader and unlikely to contend for the title, his recent form shows he’s peaking at the right moment. Next week’s race at Charlotte offers another opportunity for him to turn his near-wins into a breakthrough victory.
Fan Take: Austin Cindric’s surge toward a first win brings fresh excitement to the Chase, highlighting the depth of emerging talent in NASCAR. His continued growth not only raises the level of competition but also promises thrilling battles for fans as the season reaches its climax.
