El Hijo del Vikingo is set to undergo a second knee surgery, just three months after his initial operation on a left knee injury that has kept him sidelined since June. He announced the upcoming procedure on Instagram this past Tuesday, expressing gratitude to his supporters but providing no details about which knee will be operated on this time, the reasons behind the second surgery, or how it might impact his recovery schedule.
Back in July, Wrestling Observer Newsletter’s Dave Meltzer noted that Vikingo was expected to be out of action for roughly nine months following his first surgery, suggesting a potential return around April 2025. In September, during WWE’s Spanish-language podcast WWE Ahora, Vikingo shared that doctors were pleased with his progress, mentioning he had begun walking sooner than expected but was advised not to rush his healing.
Vikingo injured his left knee just before a scheduled title defense against E.K. Prosper on the June 30 episode of NXT, leading to the cancellation of that match. He underwent surgery on July 7 for a reportedly torn ACL. Having won the AAA Latin American Championship on May 30 at Noche de Los Grandes in Monterrey, the title was vacated by AAA general manager Rey Mysterio on July 11. Subsequently, La Parka claimed the vacant championship at Ola de Calor in Edinburg, Texas, on August 30.
Earlier, in February 2024, while holding the AAA Mega Championship, Vikingo had surgery on his right knee due to a ruptured ligament and a torn meniscus.
WrestlingNews.co sends their best wishes to El Hijo del Vikingo for a smooth and full recovery.
